Undeclared Program: Selective Majors

Careful planning and specific course selection is necessary in order to meet the criteria for the selective majors in the College.  For specific information regarding requirements and course descriptions for each major, check the UCR General Catalog.

Selective Majors:

Psychology

Must complete PSYC 1, 2 (lower division requirements) with a letter grade of C- or better, but no lower than a C average for the two courses. Must be in good academic standing for at least two consecutive quarters. (Prerequisite courses need to complete additional lower division requirements:  MATH4 or MATH5 and ENGL1C)

Sociology

Students will not be admitted into the major until lower-division requirements are satisfied with a “C” or better:
Lower Division requirements (20 units)

SOC 1
SOC 4 (prerequisite:  SOC 1)
SOC 5 (prerequisites:  SOC 1 and SOC 4)
Two additional lower-division Sociology courses (courses numbered 1-99)

Business Administration (Not a freshman admitting major—freshman admit to Pre-Business Program)

A minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 is required, with a minimum GPA of 2.0 in the general pre-requisite courses and a minimum GPA of 2.0 in the lower division required business courses, completion of all breadth requirements (except foreign language).
